Learning & Curriculum

In the present curriculum framework for New South Wales secondary education, Years 7 and 8 comprise what is termed Stage 4 in a progression towards the Higher School Certificate (Stage 6).

At De La Salle Catholic College Caringbah, we seek to design learning experiences in the classroom that cater for the diverse needs of our young men. We recognise that all students have different strengths and we seek to create a positive learning environment that builds on these strengths. We also support our students in developing essential communication, literacy and numeracy skills which will help to make them valuable contributors to our future society.

Particular focus is placed on areas which help boys maximise their skills, for example:

  • Literacy strategies
  • Numeracy strategies
  • Strategies for Gifted & Talented students
  • Chances to represent their college, state and country in sport
