Lasallian Youth Leaders (LYLs) are young people and adults who live out the Lasallian Mission and help advocate the life and work of Saint John Baptist de La Salle in the community. Each year over 1,000 students across the district of Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Papua New Guinea are trained to become LYLs. This training enables students:

  • To create a leadership structure that allows all students to lead by example
  • To be the instrument from which school activities and other school and community programs is disseminated
  • To create new ideas and traditions as well as to implement and improve on old ideas and traditions
  • To encourage other students to follow the lead and to become leaders themselves
  • To strengthen the bonds of all De La Salle students

At De La Salle Catholic College Caringbah, our LYLs meet with the Lasallian Youth Minister and Lasallian facilitator on a regular basis. These meetings enable students to get involved in all aspects of school life, becoming a positive role model to the younger students in our school and wider community.
